StuffIt Expander App Reviews

worked for me - did not asked for registration.

Worked on my Mac without any issue - I downloaded specifically to expand .rar file. It worked nicely. The software did not ask for registration as the previous user reported - may be they have changed the interface.

Works Fine for Me

I honestly dont know what the whingeing is about, it works fine, no registration prompts, nothing (I mightve uncheck a small box on the popup window, but I forget). Extremely simple design and easy to use, and it does what it says it will, expand files. Ive been using it for a number of years and havent felt that Im missing out on anything. I would recomend this app to anyone who just wants to unzip those stray far files that float around, or any of the other weird formats that arent supported by Archive Utility.

Adware

Except that you have to pay, for it, or it won’t unzip anything. It even redirects me to their Pro version, in the App Store, everytime I try to extract anything.

Does not fail on corrupted files

Password protected file. Stuffit kept asking me for the password, working, then asking again. Was loosing work because of this. Gave ‘The Unarchiver’ a try. Tells me that the archive is corrupted. Didn’t have to wait more then a second. Seems like Stuffit needs some work if it just spins its wheels on corrupted files!

great app

Great app doesnt use alot of resources my fav app. Ive been using this app for the longest since snow leopard its great

Works as expected

Works well for me on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

They have a nice advertizement that promises a lot

But only delivers on those parts that are already integrated in OS X. The most glaring inadequacy is .RAR files which are not recognized 9 out of 10 times. even 7z files are rarely processed. Finally, their .sit files are almost never seen in the wild. Thus this software is not needed since many of the functions don’t work anyway. It used to be quite good but has really went quickly downhill since 2011. Now it doesn’t seem to be supported… Why doesn’t Apple remove apps like this!

Very fast, works well from Automator

I needed somethng I could run from an Automator app. Stuffit Expander fit the bill. It was very fast and handled thousands of zip files without a hiccup.

Useful in the past but won’t open 7z file

Used it in the past. But it won’t open a 7z file. So looking for something else.
